… screwed. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and I guess I am a doomsayer, but Great Britain is screwed, in Scotland there’s growing support for that nation to break from the union, without Scotland there’s no such thing as Great Britain, fact, right?
My living in a land of doom and gloom means that I embrace the doom and gloom, I can’t manage to bury my head in the sand and ignore the grim reality of things. If times were good, land of hope and glory, Cool Britannia, I’d be full of optimism and embrace good vibes. But it’s not.
I, luckily, currently find myself in employment, unfortunately only temporary employment, but I’m on ten pounds an hour, not a wage I am capable of earning elsewhere, if there was an elsewhere, which there isn’t. Believe me, there really isn’t. Due to the short term nature of my contract I daily do a job search, hoping to find a permanent position, but for the past two weeks there’s been nothing out there in the World of job search, there really, really hasn’t. It’s extremely difficult to acquire a job, it’s even more difficult to find a job in another industry, these days a person is basically pigeon holed, no one’s prepared to give anyone a chance, opportunities are virtually non existent. The amount of jobs for anyone to apply for grow smaller all the time.
I have for a while been of the opinion that Britain/England has had it, failed by successive governments. It’s not just the jobs sector or the economy that’s had it, we the people, well not all of us but many, have had it. Nastiness, crime are at epidemic levels, the lack of jobs of money are causing more and more people to be nasty, or to be criminals, things can only get better of course, but they can also get worst, which they are. It’s going to be at least ten years before things improve. Some people of course have already had enough, those lucky enough to have the opportunity have fled the country heading for better lives in New Zealand, Canada or Australia. I’m not that fortunate, I have no job skills to offer prospective employers, my own stupid fault naturally, I have no cash, so cannot afford to flee this sinking ship England, again my own stupid fault for not planning for the future.
Am I being overly critical? Too pessimistic? Nope. Things are screwed, royally, the people in charge of businesses, banks, in government don’t give a damn, really they don’t, and far too many people are useless, incompetent, lack motivation are prepared to cause a person to fall, it’s a situation we have no way out of. We are all on a road of no return. This no longer the land of hope and glory, we have no hope and the glory is of a historical nature not a present day nature. It’s a shame, there’s so many decent people living here, I personally can’t see a way out of this crisis. Can you?
